message from Rafaelo

Hi, my is Rafaelo and I teach Callan Method at LETS. I have been a teacher at LETS since April 2007, and have found my time here as a teacher highly enjoyable.　For those of you who do not know about Callan Method, it is a completely different technique of teaching English compared to what most other schools teach.

Where most other English courses, focus on developing a students English fluency through slowly developing an understanding of the language; Callan Method on the other hand, uses quick fire question and answer lessons where the teacher speaks at faster than native speed, forcing the student to speak English with no time to translate.

The benefits of teaching English in this way is that the students learn the language much faster by learning to speak English without translating into their own language first. It is a very effective way of learning English, and a great way to improve all aspects of a persons understanding of the language. As well as quick fire questions and answers, Callan method classes have a dictation and reading time, where the students will write down what the teacher is saying and also read the Callan books out loud themselves, while the teacher corrects any mistakes in pronunciation.

That's right, our very own indoor soccer team has climbed its way to the very top of the indoor soccer ladder and it's time for the final showdown. It's been an amazing season for LETS F.C. as they charged through every single game on their way to the top of the ladder losing only a single match in the whole season!

So join us at Sydney Uni. Aquatic Center and cheer LETS F.C. this thursday night (4/10/2007) at 8:40pm. It will be a night to remember!!
