Atlas of the suburbs of Sydney
Discover 'our place' as it was in the late nineteenth century in this series of colourful maps, lithographed and published by Higinbotham and Robinson in the 1880s. City of Sydney Suburbs in this series include Alexandria, Camperdown, Darlington, Glebe, Macdonaldtown, Newtown, Redfern and Waterloo.

Maps will be on display and copies available to order through the following City of Sydney Libraries: Glebe Library 9298 3060, Haymarket Library 9265 9977, Newtown Library 8512 4250, Ultimo Library 9298 3110, Waterloo Library 9288 5688.

Razorhurst Exhibition and Talks at Kings Cross Library
(Talks are now fully booked - 8 April, 6-8pm , and 29 April, 6 -8pm)
In the 1920s and 30s in inner Sydney, some of the most terrifying criminals in Australia's history waged war with razor and gun. The tabloids of the time nicknamed the area 'Razorhurst'. Kings Cross Library will host an exhibition of photographs, news items and writing from the era featuring the people and locations that made East Sydney infamous.

Sydney Town Hall: The building and its collection (12 April, 11:30am - 1pm)
Curator and author, Margaret Betteridge will give an illustrated talk about her lavish new book, Sydney Town Hall: The building and its collection. Hear about some of the fascinating and obscure items that are in this magnificent and eclectic collection. Signed copies of the book will be on sale. Morning tea will be served prior to the talk.

Chippendale: Beneath the Factory Wall (13 April, Guided Walk 10:30am - 12pm and Author Talk 12pm) *Note the Guided Walk is now fully booked
A walking tour led by City historian Shirley Fitzgerald of the cramped streets and lanes of Chippendale. Walk finishes at 12 noon at 1 Beaumont Street, Chippendale (behind Pine Street Creative Arts Centre) and will be followed by the launch of a new edition of Shirley Fitzgerald's Chippendale: Beneath the Factory wall.

Walking tour meets at 10:30am at corner of Lee and Regent Streets, outside the old dispensary. The Walk is now fully booked however all welcome for the book launch. Call Edda Boyd on 9265 9895 for more information.

Sydney Stories: Online Oral History in the City of Sydney (16 April, 6-8pm)
The City of Sydney will launch its new, and ongoing, web based oral history program with a presentation by the City's oral historian Dr Margo Beasley. Hear audio excerpts from themed oral history projects that evoke 'our place' in the City of Sydney, linked to images from the City's extensive photographic collection. Light refreshments will be served.

Surry Hills: The City's Backyard (20 April, Guided Walk 10:30am - 12pm and Author Talk 12pm)

A walking tour led by historian Christopher Keating of the former slum areas of Surry Hills. Walk finishes at 12 noon at Frog Hollow Reserve, corner Albion and Riley Streets, and will be followed by the launch of a new edition of Christopher Keating's Surry Hills: The City's Backyard.
