Moon Festival
Every September, the Chinese celebrate a tradition known as the Moon Festival. This year it will be on this weekend [22 & 23].
The Moon Festival is celebrated among family and friends with great enthusiasm as the full moon will shine at its brightest. There are many legends surrounding the reason why the moon shines so brightly. The festivity includes mooncakes, paper lanterns, fireworks, lion/dragon dancing and a buffet of food.
Moon cake. A sweet pastry with thick fillings of lotus paste and other ingredients that may include nuts, yolk from salted egg duck, lotus seeds, taro etc.
The celebrations are held at various places including Chinatown, The Chinese Gardens at Darling Harbour or even out west in Cabramatta. So check it out!
